Secretary of State Candidate, Aide Hurt in Parade Accident

(Learfield News Service/Carver, MN) — Republican Secretary of State candidate John Howe and an aide are hospitalized with injuries suffered in a parade float accident in Carver.

Howe and campaign manager Tim Droogsma were riding in the Steamboat Days parade Sunday afternoon when they were thrown from the G-O-P float. They were both injured in the accident.

Howe posted a photo of himself on Twitter in a hospital bed with a head brace and blood on his hands. He Tweeted “road rash, 14 staples in the back of the head. And very stiff and sore.”

Droogsma’s current condition was not available.

Howe is a former mayor of Red Wing and Minnesota state senator. He’s challenging incumbent D-F-L Secretary of State Steve Simon of St. Louis Park.
