(Learfield News Service/Plato, MN) The president of the Minnesota Corn Growers is pleased the Trump Administration is taking steps to allow E15 to be sold year-round.
Brian Thalmann of Plato says farmers need certainty with renewable fuels policy.
He says, “We are very hopeful that we can continue to have some progress made on getting year-round approval for E15, which would be great for the environment, and great for the economy of the Midwest and United States”.
Trump is expected next week to unveil an expansion of the use of E15, a fuel mixture of 85% gasoline and 15% ethanol, a corn-based fuel. Currently, E15 can only be sold during the summer months because of smog concerns.
The changes are expected to lift that ban by next summer.
