Uponor North America had a ribbon-cutting and plant tour today (Thursday) to celebrate the grand opening of its newest expansion, a 237,000-square-foot facility located in Hutchinson.
Officials say the plant was completed earlier this year, six months ahead of schedule.
Uponor North America President Bill Gray says the plant has added 40 jobs in the community and has already produced more than 30 million feet of PEX tubing, which is mainly used in plumbing for both residential and commercial applications.
Uponor’s new facility is part of the Hutchinson Technology plant that was no longer needed for their operation.
Gray says the building was a perfect fit for what the company needed. He also said Hutchinson is great because of the skilled labor force, in that the school district is inter-connected with industry.
Uponor is a 100-year-old company based in Finland, with its North American Headquarters in Apple Valley, Minnesota.
Apple Valley Mayor Mary Hamann-Roland says Uponor is a community oriented company that has been a great benefit to Apple Valley and says the same will no doubt be true in Hutchinson also. (click here for more information on Uponor)
