Be Alert of Mud on Roads

With the fall harvest starting and the abundance of wet weather conditions, motorists are reminded to pay particular attention to mud and other debris on the roadways.

McLeod County Public Works Director John Brunkhorst says mud that is left on the roadways can create a safety hazard to motorists and motorcycles and anyone depositing mud and other debris onto public roads and streets are responsible for its removal.

Failure to clean up mud and other debris may be punishable as a misdemeanor under state statutes.

Officials say they appreciate your cooperation in helping maintain a safe highway system.
