(West Central Tribune/Willmar, MN) Two individuals were arrested Monday in the death of 24-year-old David Medellin Jr., whose body was found last week in a plowed field near Willmar.
Kandiyohi County Sheriff Dan Hartog said the arrests were made at 5 p.m. Monday by the Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office, along with officers from the Willmar Police Department, the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and the CEE-VI Drug and Gang Task Force.
The names of the individuals will be released when they are formally charged but Hartog said they were arrested on probable cause of second-degree murder and second-degree murder – liability for crimes of another.
The investigation is ongoing, Hartog said.
Medellin’s body was found at 3:12 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, in a plowed farm field near the intersection of 49th Street and Eighth Avenue Northeast in Kandiyohi Township, east of Willmar.
On Friday the Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office said Medellin’s death was a homicide. The statement did not indicate when or how Medellin may have been killed, and the Sheriff’s Office was asking for anyone who had contact with Medellin on Oct. 24 or later to contact their office.
