A Watkins man was charged Tuesday in connection with an assault that had taken place early Sunday morning involving a shotgun.
The Meeker County Attorney’s Office says 26-year-old Michael Kelly Downham is charged with multiple counts, including 2nd degree assault and threats of violence, both felonies.
Just before 2 Sunday morning, the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call in reference to an assault that occurred in the 400 block of Meeker Avenue North in Watkins. Authorities say the initial investigation revealed that Downham allegedly pointed a loaded shotgun at the victim as a result of an argument.
During the investigation, a search warrant was executed at the residence in which the gun used in the assault was seized, along with drug-related items.
Authorities say the investigation also revealed the suspect was assisted in the assault and charges on at least one other person are expected.
