A big honor for Minnesota basketball legend Lindsay Whalen in her hometown Tuesday night.
A public dedication ceremony for the Whalen Gymnasium was held at Hutchinson High School.
The Hutchinson shool board voted this month to name the newly renovated gym after Hutchinson’s most famous graduate.
Whalen became the state’s all-time leading scorer playing for the Tigers and earned a scholarship to the University of Minnesota. She led the Golden Gophers to the 2004 Final Four, won four W-N-B-A championships with the Minnesota Lynx and now coaches her alma mater.
