(West Central Tribune/Olivia, MN) Four suspects are in custody after a Friday night incident in Sacred Heart involving the execution of a search warrant.
Renville County Sheriff Scott Hable said his office was notified Friday of an arrest warrant issued by Mille Lacs County District Court for a 38-year-old man from Elk River who was wanted for fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle, fourth-degree assault on a police officer and driving after cancellation.
The suspect was alleged to have struck an officer in Mille Lacs County with his vehicle while attempting to escape law enforcement.
According to a news release, law enforcement in Renville County received information Friday that the suspect might be at a residence in Sacred Heart.
Following surveillance and investigation, a warrant was obtained to search the house.
Several attempts to get the suspect to surrender were unsuccessful. Due to the man’s alleged history of aggressive behavior and other circumstances, the Brown-Lyon-Redwood-Renville Emergency Response Unit/SWAT was activated to search the house.
At about 7:43 p.m. Friday, following entry into the house, the suspect was located and arrested without incident, Hable said. The man was taken to the Renville County Jail where he will be held until Mille Lacs County takes custody of him.
Two other individuals at the residence prior to the execution of the search warrant were also arrested and booked into the Renville County Jail for aiding an offender, a felony. According to the Sheriff’s Office, a third suspect who earlier attempted to flee from the house was arrested and jailed as well for fleeing a peace officer and aiding an offender.
