Paynesville Police Officer Arrested After Domestic Assault Report


ST. CLOUD – A Paynesville police officer was taken into custody in Stearns County after being accused in a domestic assault incident reported at 2:10 a.m. Friday at a residence in the 32000 block of River Vista Lane in Le Sauk Township.

The West Central Tribune reports Stearns County Sheriff’s officers responding to a report of a domestic assault placed Nathan Johnson under arrest at the residence and transported him to the Stearns County Jail.

He was booked on charges of fifth-degree assault and misdemeanor domestic assault and will remain in custody until a Monday court appearance.

The caller reported being struck by Johnson. Officers spoke to the caller and to Johnson before arresting him.

Johnson is shown on the Paynesville Police Department’s web page as an officer.

The St. Cloud Times reported that Johnson has worked for the department since 2016.
