Willmar Man Sentenced in Death of Blomkest Man


(KWLM/Willmar MN-) A Willmar man who pleaded guilty to manslaughter in November was sentenced to 58 months in prison in Kandiyohi County District Court Monday.

30-year-old Richard Michael Houske admitted supplying a fatal dose of fentanyl to 24-year-old John Schlegel of Blomkest in the Fall of 2017 and was initially charged with 3rd Degree Murder.

On November 5th Houske pleaded guilty to 2nd Degree Manslaughter and was sentenced yesterday to 58 months, minus 366 days for time served since his arrest.

He was also fined $1000 and ordered to pay $19,053 to the Schlegel family to pay for his victim’s funeral.
