St. Paul, MN—State Representative Glenn Gruenhagen, R-Glencoe, issued a statement this week regarding news that Carver County has been awarded $7 million in Federal funding through the Metropolitan Council’s Transportation Advisory Board (TAB) for the County’s planned upgrades to U.S. Highway 212.
“Today’s announcement is another important step in our effort to make Highway 212 a safer and more efficient roadway,” said Rep. Gruenhagen. “I have devoted a great deal of energy during my time in the legislature to improving safety conditions on Highway 212. I am encouraged by today’s news and am grateful for both the County’s and Met Council’s commitment to safe travel for those of us that travel Highway 212 on a regular basis.”
Wednesday’s round of funding supports phase one which is scheduled to start construction of 4 lanes in 2022. This nearly completes the funding for improvements from Chaska to Cologne. Next will be Phase two which covers the five-mile stretch from Cologne to Norwood Young America.
