Hutchinson School Threat Deemed Not Credible/Investigation Continues

Hutchinson High School administration received notice of a threat to Hutchinson High School today (Friday) and for a time, they put all schools in an “External Watch” lockdown. That was lifted just after noon today.

In an email from the district this morning, officials said even though school was closed because of the weather, both Hutchinson High School and Middle School had an eLearning day with staff reporting and Park and West Elementary may have staff reporting on their own and potentially students going to school.

Because of that, officials put all schools in an “External Watch” lockdown.

Hutchinson Police say the threat was in the form of an email and began their investigation.

Police say they located the individual whose email the threat came from. Upon further investigation, it was determined the threat was not credible and was not authored by the owner of the email account.

The police investigation is ongoing to determine the author of the threatening email.
