(KWLM/Olivia MN-) A settlement conference and omnibus hearing took place Thursday for 60-year-old Michael Klatt of Fairfax, who is accused of shooting his wife’s co-worker at a Fairfax convenience store January 11th.
Klatt appeared before Judge Dwayne Knudsen in Renville County District Court in Olivia.
A jury trial was scheduled for July 16th.
Klatt is charged with 1st Degree Attempted Premediated Murder, 1st Degree and 2nd Degree Assault for entering the Smart Mart last month and shooting employee Kenneth Eckstein of Hector.
Klatt reportedly blamed Eckstein of encouraging his wife (Klatt’s wife), who also works at the store, to leave him.
Eckstein suffered wounds to his face and hand.
Klatt is being held on 500,000 dollars unconditional and 200,000 dollars conditional bail.
His next court appearance will be another hearing March 28th.
