(Chaska Herald/Chaska, MN) Chaska police are considering implementing ‘non-lethal’ PepperBall weapons.
The Chaska Herald reports the police department is considering equipping the force with the bullet-like spheres filled with powder.
When fired, the projectile releases a powdered chemical that irritates the eyes and nose. Frank Horstman of United Shield International says other projectiles can release a paint that may be helpful for officers to identify perpetrators in crowds.
Horstman presented the weapons, which he describe as “non-lethal” to leaders of the police department on behalf of United Tactical Systems LLC, which manufactures and markets the PepperBall product, which is used by NATO.
