(KWLM/Willmar, MN) The Multiple Sclerosis Society of Minnesota says about 500 bicycle riders will be exploring west central Minnesota this week and raising money to fight MS.
The MS TRAM, which stands for The Ride Across Minnesota, will cover about 300 miles in 5 days.
The event begins this morning (Monday) at The Willmar Civic Center and will end in the same location on Friday afternoon. In between, riders will stay in Montevideo Monday night, Ortonville Tuesday night, Wednesday will be a ride around the Ortonville area, and on Thursday they will ride from Ortonville to Benson.
The final leg is Benson to Willmar on Friday.
Willmar Mayor Marv Calvin says motorists should be on the lookout for riders, and is glad to be able to show off Willmar to the big crowd.
Calvin says Willmar has made great strides in the last few years to become more bicycle-friendly, including adding and improving bike trails and creating a “white bike” public bike rental program.
