On Monday, just before 10:30 in the morning, the Ottertail County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center began receiving text messages from a female indicating that she was the passenger in a semi, and she had been sexually assaulted by the driver.
They were further informed the semi was traveling westbound on I-94 and she was able to provide a description of the vehicle.
Ottertail Deputies and Minnesota State Patrol Troopers were informed of the call and immediately began looking for the semi. A Minnesota State Trooper located a semi matching the description traveling westbound on I-94 near Downer and conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle.
At that time, a female was located in the semi and was transported to an area hospital by Clay County Deputies.
Investigators from the Clay County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation into the incident and that investigation is still on-going.
The identity of the female will not be released.
An adult male was taken into custody and transported to the Clay County Correctional Center without incident.
Through the course of the investigation, Investigators determined this incident took place in Stearns County.
Subsequently, Clay County authorities say the investigation is being turned over to them.
