The city of Hutchinson has rejected a resolution that would have allowed residents within the city limits to have chickens.
The city council voted 4 to 1 Tuesday night to reject a change to the existing animal ordinance that would have allowed it.
The mayor and three council members said they heard nothing but negative comments from residents regarding allowing chickens in the city.
Councilor Dave Sebesta was the only one voting in favor of allowing the change. He said most of the comments he heard were in favor of the change.
