The McLeod County Sheriff’s Office received a $10,000 donation in memory of Deb Schott of Lester Prairie.
Schott was a North Memorial nurse who was killed in a helicopter crash in Brainerd in June.
Because of Deb’s love for dogs, Schott’s husband and two children presented the donation to the Sheriff’s Office and requested that the money go towards purchasing a new K-9.
The Sheriff’s Office said the purchase will need the approval of the County Commissioners, but it’s their hope to purchase the K-9 a year from now to start the training process.
They also intend on having the Schott family name the dog.
