A Cosmos man was ultimately arrested after crashing his vehicle into a house Tuesday night and fleeing from the scene.

The Meeker County Sheriff’s Office says 35-year-old Michael Rinnels crashed his vehicle into a house in the 600 Block of South Milky Way Street in Cosmos just after 9pm.

The Sheriff’s Office says Rinnels fled the scene before EMS personnel arrived, but deputies located him hiding in his residence.

Rinnels was arrested for driving under the influence. He also had multiple warrants for his arrest out of multiple counties.

Rinnels was taken to Meeker Memorial Hospital in Litchfield for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. After his release from the hospital, he was booked into the Meeker County Jail.

No one was in the house at the time of the crash however, there is significant damage to the home.

Authorities say an investigation is continuing in to those who helped Rinnels hide from the deputies and additional obstruction of justice charges are possible.
