A Franklin man accused of running over another man at a Renville County farmhouse has withdrawn a guilty plea.
KSTP reports that according to court records, 39-year-old Russel Allen Doucette had pleaded guilty last month to one count of criminal vehicular homicide, but withdrew the plea and pleaded not guilty Monday.
A criminal complaint states Doucette and Randy Lee Oletzke were at a farmhouse in rural Franklin on July 27, 2017, when Doucette tried to drive away between dusk and midnight. Doucette told authorities Oletzke wasn’t letting him leave by standing in front of his truck.
The complaint states that Doucette later told investigators he left the property at 70-75 mph to go to a neighbors house were he consumed several mixed drinks, adding that he was pretty sure he ran over Oletzke when leaving and that he was dead.
