Man Rescued from Grain Bin North of Gibbon

A man was rescued from a grain bin north of Gibbon Tuesday afternoon.

The Sibley County Sheriff’s Office says at 2:13pm, they received a 911 call that a man was engulfed in corn up to his chest in a grain bin at a property about 5 miles north of Gibbon and had been trapped for a couple of hours before being discovered.

Members of the Gibbon and Winthrop Fire Departments arrived and cut the grain bin open in several locations to drain the corn and free the victim.

Authorities say the victim was taken to New Ulm Hospital for treatment of minor injuries and precautionary measures.
