A Hutchinson man and former Wright County IT employee accused of transferring private data to his home was sentenced Wednesday.
KSTP reports court records show 53-year-old Timothy Lorsung was sentenced to one year of probation.
A 90-day jail sentence was stayed for one year and will likely be waived as long as he doesn’t violate his probation.
In May, Lorsung pleaded guilty to violating government data practices rules, which is a misdemeanor.
The county said the incident happened in 2018 and Lorsung was fired from his position after the incident. The county also said the data was recovered and it was not believed to have been sold or distributed.
5 EYEWITNESS NEWS spoke to Lorsung last December, and he admitted to taking the data because he “wanted to work at home.”
