(Learfield News Service/KWLM/Willmar, MN) — The board of commissioners in Kandiyohi County will take a vote Tuesday on whether it wants to continue to be a location where refugees are settled.
The vote is required after a presidential executive order issued in September.
It is aimed at enhancing state and local involvement in refugee resettlement.
The Willmar City Council has already consented, but the county vote is necessary.
The U-S Department of State says only states, counties, or county-equivalents can give approval.
