Xcel Energy Postpones Rate-increase Request

(Learfield News Service)  Xcel Energy’s customers will not see rate increases in 2020 after the utility postponed its request, citing state regulators’ particularly crowded docket now through next year.

Analysts expect the utility will make another request next November, but an Xcel spokesman says there’s no way to tell at this point whether it would be larger than the current request, which is about 15 percent for all customers combined over three years.

Last week, the Public Utilities Commission approved interim rate increases of just under six percent for CenterPoint Energy and Minnesota Power, as regulators consider those utilities’ full rate-increase requests.
