More Info Released on Shooting in Willmar

(KWLM/Willmar MN-) Willmar Police have released more details on a shooting in Willmar that occurred last week.

According to the release, on Tuesday morning 25-year-old Dylan Malvin of Raymond and 26-year-old Juan Leal of Willmar got into an argument in the 1300 Block of Dana Drive Southeast. Witnesses told police Malvin brandished a “blunt edged weapon” and Leal retrieved a handgun and shot Malvin one time in the torso.

Police were called at 9:48 a.m., and when officers arrived, they found Malvin lying in the street and gave him first aid. Leal was standing in the roadway with a handgun but immediately surrendered when police arrived. He was in legal possession of the handgun.

Malvin was taken to Rice Memorial Hospital where he’s listed in stable condition and is expected to recover from his injury.

Leal was taken into custody, but as of Friday, was not listed on the Kandiyohi County Jail roster.

The news release says charges are pending, and the investigation is ongoing.
