Hutchinson Man Sentenced to Probation After House Fire/Arrest

A Hutchinson man has been sentenced to probation after being arrested and charged when authorities discovered methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia at his home as they were putting out a fire on December 3rd.

Thirty-year-old Robert Lee Bloch entered a plea of guilty to one felony count of possession of a controlled substance.

In McLeod County Court last week, Judge Jody Winters stayed the imposition of sentence and placed Bloch on probation for a period of three years. The conditions of probation are that the defendant serve 90 days in the McLeod County Jail, complete a chemical dependency evaluation, follow the recommendations of the evaluation, have no use or possession of alcohol or drugs, and pay a fine and surcharge of $225.00

At 6:41am on December 3rd, fire crews responded to the report of a fire at the home in the 700 Block of California Street Northwest in Hutchinson.

Police said the fire department reported they located drug paraphernalia as they were putting out the fire.

Police obtained a search warrant and subsequently found methamphetamine and paraphernalia in the house.
