Slippery Road Blamed for Three-Vehicle Crash on School Road Bridge

Slippery roads are being blamed for a three-vehicle crash on the School Road bridge in Hutchinson early Tuesday evening.

Hutchinson Police say 29-year-old Michael Massmann of Hutchinson was driving his pickup south on School Road when he lost control on the bridge, slid across the centerline and into the guardrail. The pickup glanced off the guardrail and collided with a northbound SUV, driven by 27-year-old Kyle Melchert of Hutchinson. The Massmann vehicle then hit a vehicle that had been southbound behind him. That vehicle was driven by 46-year-old Sara Pollman, also of Hutchinson.

The Hutchinson Fire Department extricated Massmann from his vehicle and he was taken by ambulance to Hutchinson Health for evaluation of minor injuries.

Ambulance staff evaluated Melchert at the scene. Pollman was not injured.

The crash happened just after 5pm.
