(KNUJ) The GFW School Board held a public hearing Monday night to address the proposal to close one of the district’s buildings as part of a statutory operating debt plan.
Several hundred people packed the gym in Gibbon to hear and give testimony for and against the proposal.
GFW Superintendent Lonnie Seifert said the proposal to close the intermediate school in Fairfax is jst part of the plan that has been submitted to the Minnesota Department of Education.
The Fairfax City Council recently made the decision to offer free utilities for the school in Fairfax.
Fairfax city officials also ntoed that they plan to solicit donations for fundraising.
The GFW School Board plans to act on the closure proposal Monday at 6:30 pm in the Winthrop School Auditorium.
