Gov Signs Order Closing MN Bars, Restaurants and More

(Learfield News Service/St. Paul MN-) Governor Tim Walz Monday signed an executive order temporarily closing all restaurants, bars, and other places of amusement including movie theaters, museums, gyms and community clubs. Walz announced the closures as Minnesota’s COVID 19 case count hit 54, and they go into effect at 5 p.m. Tuesday and end at the same time Thursday March 27th.

The order also allows the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development to pay unemployment benefits immediately, providing fast relief to employees who need it.

In a news release, Walz said “As the cases of COVID-19 in Minnesota continue to climb, we must take decisive action to curb the spread of this pandemic and protect the health and safety of Minnesotans. This is a challenging time for business owners, employees, children and families alike. We must come together as One Minnesota to care for our neighbors and slow the spread of COVID-19.”
