State Patrol Says Alcohol Involved in Monticello Crash


(KWLM/Monticello, MN) — Authorities now say alcohol was involved in a crash near Monticello Sunday afternoon which injured 4 people including a young woman from Granite Falls.

The state patrol says 37-year-old Nathan Gibb of Monticello was driving an SUV eastbound on I-94 when he left the road, entered the median, and rolled into the westbound lanes of traffic.

Gibb suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to North Memorial Hospital, and alcohol was detected in his system.

Passenger 18-year-old Hannah Gustafson of Granite Falls suffered life-threatening injuries and is recovering at North Memorial.

Passenger 21-year-old Kayla Hauwiller of Clearwater also suffered life-threatening injuries and is hospitalized at Hennepin County Medical Center.

And passenger 35-year-old Juan Ramirez of Maple Grove suffered non-life-threatening injuries and is hospitalized at North Memorial.
