The City of Hutchinson has officially declared a state of emergency.
The Mayor signed the proclamation and the city council approved the resolution Tuesday evening.
However, city officials say it’s not a reason for residents to panic.
Officials say it gives the city three areas of “control.”
City Administrator Matt Jaunich:
Officials also say by declaring a state of emergency, it provides avenues for the city to possibly get reimbursed with state and federal funds.
By mandate, the declaration is only in effect for 30 days. After that, the city must take action if they wish to extend the state of emergency.
The city also has the option to rescind the declaration before the 30 day period, if they choose.
