(Learfield News Service/St. Paul, MN) — Attorney General Keith Ellison’s office reached a settlement with a Meeker County landlord who repeatedly disconnected a tenant’s water service.
The owner of the Divine Estates manufactured home park in Cosmos was accused of violating landlord-tenant laws during a COVID-19 peacetime emergency.
The court is requiring the landlord to waive rental and contract-for-deed payments the tenants previously owed and not to interfere with tenants’ utility services.
Ellison says his office has received 300 complaints from tenants in Minnesota threatened with removal that is illegal under the governor’s executive order.
