Police are requesting charges on a 50-year-old Hutchinson man accused of stealing a donation jar last week from the Speedway convenience store on Highway 7 West.
Authorities say an employee reported that a donation jar for the Children’s Miracle Network had been stolen from the counter, containing an estimated $35.
Surveillance video showed an individual, whom police identified as a 50 year-old Hutchinson man, take the jar of money and place it under his walker at about 20 minutes after midnight Wednesday morning (May 13).
Police spoke to the man who admitted taking the donation jar with the money.
The jar was recovered from the garbage at the man’s residence.
Misdemeanor theft charges are being requested from the Hutchinson City Attorney’s office.
