An investigation is underway after a vehicle theft and multiple vehicle break-ins were reported last week in Sibley County.
The Sibley County Sheriff’s Office says the thefts happened at about 6pm Thursday (May 14) at the Minnesota River access off Highway 93, about a half mile east of Highway 169.
One vehicle was reported stolen, and items were stolen from three other vehicles.
The stolen vehicle was a 2016 Ford Fusion, owned by a Belle Plaine man. About $900 worth of tools and hunting and fishing gear were taken from that vehicle.
Several fishing rods, tackle boxes, a Beretta A400 12-gauge shotgun, and a Taurus .380 caliber pistol were reported stolen from the other vehicles, worth over $4,000.
During an investigation yesterday (Monday, May 18), St. Paul Police found the stolen Beretta shotgun in a vehicle. The stolen Ford Fusion has not yet been located.
The investigation contiues.
