Former Kimball Football Coach Cleared of Wrongdoing

(KWLM/Star Tribune-Kimball MN) A former Kimball football coach has been cleared after being accuses of possibly molesting one of his players.

Now, former Coach and Teacher Johnny Benson would like to get his life back on track.

Last Fall, the Stearns County Sheriff’s Department investigated Benson after the parents of a student accused him of possibly molesting their son, one of Benson’s players.

Both Benson and the player told investigators the coach had applied medication for a sore back and hamstring, but the boy’s parents felt he was acting strangely afterwards and notified authorities.

Benson was placed on administrative leave, and later resigned.

After an investigation that lasted several months, officials found no wrongdoing by Benson and told him he would not be charged.

Now, the 27-year-old graduate of St. John’s University would like to get back into teaching and get his reputation back.

He told the Minneapolis Star Tribune “I didn’t do anything wrong. I’m embarrassed and humiliated.”

He said he’s hoping someone will be willing to take a chance on him and let him get his life back.
