Flash flooding was reported in parts of Hennepin, Scott and Carver counties Monday morning.
The National Weather Service said radar indicated heavy thunderstorms producing significant amounts of rain were moving through those areas early Monday.
Officials say 4 to 6 inches of rain fell overnight, causing flooding in some areas.
KSTP reports that overnight, there were reports of wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour and quarter-size hail in the metro area as well as south of the metro area.
There were reports of damage to vehicles, roofs, siding, and trees.
