The Hutchinson School Board held a special meeting last night (Thursday) to discuss possibly delaying the start of school this fall from August 31st to September 2nd.
A couple of board members felt it may be worth considering to allow a bit more time to plan regarding the current pandemic situation.
And while a motion to do that failed, there was more discussion regarding the recent increase in COVID cases being reported in McLeod County and how that will affect opening the schools to students.
Superintendent Daron VanderHeiden:
VanderHeiden said formal action by the board to make a change from in-person learning to the hybrid model would be done before school begins.
