Due to medical reasons, McLeod County Sheriff Scott Rehmann is retiring.
Rehmann shared his retirement announcement with his staff and the County Board this morning (Tuesday).
Rehmann suffered a stroke on August 30 and in a letter to the County Commissioners and citizens of McLeod County (see letter below), he explained the stroke left him unable to perform the essential functions of his job.
County officials say upon Sheriff Rehmann’s retirement on September 22, 2020, Chief Deputy Tim Langenfeld will automatically assume responsibilities of the Sheriff until further action by the County Board.
The topic is expected to be on the October 6, county board agenda.
